The savings measures I have proposed have merit in their own - TopicsExpress

The savings measures I have proposed have merit in their own right, but they have further merit as well. Massive spending reductions will also help address the Commonwealth public debt interest which grows from $13.4 billion last financial year, to $17.9 billion in 2017/18 – a $4.5 billion increase. Can you imagine if we paid no interest on public debt? There would be massive social benefit from that money circulating in the economy – not through government spending, but back in taxpayers’ pockets so they can choose whether mum or dad has to work to pay a huge mortgage, or the terms and conditions they can work for. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Senator Bob Days speech on the Senates duty to cut spending: Full Speech here: familyfirst.org.au/files/Ideas-from-the-Crossbench-27.11.14.pdf
