The scientific predictions make it clear that humanity is on the verge of annihilating the ecological basis for our own existence. The temperature will rise 4 degrees by 2050, causing extinction of 50% of all species, and at least 6 degrees by 2100, leading to total cataclysm. And yet for the most part, we continue to live in states of hypnotic distraction, trapped in a social and cultural system that prioritizes short-term profit-making, ego-centric goals, narcissistic hedonism. I try to maintain optimism that humanity will awaken in time and use our creativity and technical genius - perhaps even our psychic abilities - to transform our society and redirect our energies as a species. But I have to admit that there isnt much that makes me feel that this will actually happen in time. What do you think? What are you doing to redirect your life energy to deal with the rapidly approaching cataclysm? Or dont you care?
