The second edition of Social and Environmental Excellence (SEE) Award 2014 has shed light on 25 best practices in 10 subcategories under 4 categories. The award ceremony was held on December 9, 2014 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) marking the closing of Dhaka Apparel Summit 2014 organized by BGMEA. It is indeed a great pleasure to actually see this initiative mature and inspire many. I am very grateful to GIZ for managing to implement the ideas that I have envisioned so well. A very special thanks to Mr. Olaf Handloegten, former Country Director GIZ, Mr. Magnus Schmid, Program Coordinator of PSES, Ms. Sarwat Ahmed, Senior Advisor GIZ and Mr. Shariful Islam, Founder of Bangladesh Brand Forum for organizing the event successfully. A big warm welcome to Mr. Tobais Becker the new Country Director GIZ, for taking our ideas forward. SEE Award aims to promote social and environmental compliance in the industry through sharing the story of best practices that are being implemented, to face the challenges ahead and materialize the vision of being the largest apparel industry in the world. In order to inspire our RMG factories to be socially and environmentally responsible the first SEE Award was organized in 2012. I would like to congratulate the exemplary management team of the factory that received the award this year. I would also like to congratulate the recipients of the Inclusive Skills Development award. I would also like to thank the Jury board members and all the partners, sponsors for their cooperation. We are taking the initiative to further promote excellence socially and environmentally by making a book with 101 Best practices, Good practices around our industry. This will not only motivate factories to improve their social and environmental conditions but also help build a sustainable industry.
