The second grade class went on their annual visit to the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver. It was a beautiful day for a walk on the nature path. Afterwards the students participated in an Insect Inquiry class, in which they got to observe and discover hissing cockroaches. After an outdoor lunch, the children toured the Pavilion and experienced Rosie the tarantula, sea creatures, and of course butterflies! Back at school, the second grade have been raising their own lepidopteras. The butterflies emerged from their crysalides during Easter break, so the children had their very own butterfly release when they returned.
