The secular “chewing gum” In Delhi yesterday around 5000 - TopicsExpress

The secular “chewing gum” In Delhi yesterday around 5000 bikers made mockery of law & order. Apart from breaching traffic rules they harassed the employees at a petrol pump, set a motorcycle ablaze and caused disruption to traffic movement. The news channel reports that the police was moderate in dealing with them and restrained itself from legal or tough actions. The video testified to this. Few months ago the same police was ordered to lathi-charge to manage a much much larger group of people who were protesting against the brutal gang rape of a student. Nothing deterred the administration to resort to violent measures against kids, women, senior citizens and others in order to protect & maintain law & order in same Delhi. The obvious question arises, why two laws for constitutionally equal citizens. The answer is, the people involved in the two incidents were not at all equal with the former ones being apparently from the “Minority” community of Muslims. Here, my emphasis is not on the community of these people who dared to defy and challenge law & order in front of its “helpless” guardians, rather on the double standard of the administration which was showcased once again last night. Now, my question is what lured the government of Delhi into this dereliction of duty? Was it afraid that any action within the frame of law might earn the party who has been serving the nation relentlessly “in its own ways” for over so many decades, the stigma of being a non-secular party and thus might put it at par with the BJP. The chewing gum of “Secularism” seems to have maintained still some taste for the grannies of the Delhi government. An honest reply to the question is seriously awaited as such incidents would only lead to a sharp division of the society.
