It is entirely possible for the poorest of us to live as if we were rich. That is to say that even the minimum income is enough for us to live freely, and independantly, enjoying simple pleasures with moderation. The trick is to adjust the way we see things. To extract ourselves from the concepts that normally dictate our way of living. In extracting ourselves from society and all its expactations about how we should be living and what we should be doing. Personally i achieved this by studying the life of a simple monk. Until i knew what the world looks like through a monks eyes. With this capacity of vision, all illusions about our freedom can be seen through. Then i reconstructed my lifestyle with my monks mind. I discided to live at the rythm of nature as apposed to the rythm of modern society. I learned to see the real value of all the things that are around me. I learned to sit quietly for any length of time and at any moment. And thus became free. To me now, society is an entity that exists independantly of myself, with which i can choose to interact as it suits me. It has no power or control over my existance anymore. If i choose to engage in some paperwork story for example, i can clearly see beforehand, which hoops i shall be expected to jump through, in order to attain the goal that i myself have chosen to attain. And then i can abandon myself to the hoop jumping game with joy, in the surety of the outcome and the knowledge of my own freedom. I firstly discided to concentrate on food. If i know how many kilos of rice i need in order to live for, lets say, a year. Then i add a few condiments, such as spices and soyasauce, then once i have bought these things, i know that i have a years worth of security and freedom ahead of me. I then found out how much it costs to heat myself and so on. Until i could see that the bare essentials of life did not cost much at all. Then i can see, that infact in order to sustain myself i only need to work 2 or 3 days per month. Once setting out on these foundations, solid, real foundations, as apposed to messy illusory, unclear societal foundations, i am truly grounded in myself. And clarity of mind are what follow. To be grounded on these foundations i am now free to construct and use the tools around me to achieve many goals. And here i stand. Extracted from the mess and free, with a clear mind. And with the capacity to lay down a map for the extraction of others who are lost in the madness of slavery and confusion. And each year i require less and less to have more and more.
