The sight of my favourite tree chopped in the college reminded me - TopicsExpress

The sight of my favourite tree chopped in the college reminded me of this previous work of mine- Thoughts of a tree while being cut down Sounds of knell today I hear, For my death stands very near. The thought of my death gives my heart a flail. When I foresee homeless squirrels, bugs & birds wail. Axe & saws chop my trunk. Oh hear! Where are those people to my heart who were dear? Those boys who would climb to the tip from my roots, For whom I would save my fresh ripe fruits. In the evening I received old man & his crew. Under my shade, from their pack a card they drew. Those kids who play around me. Ive seen them grow, Hide & seek their friends & swing on my branches to-&-fro. Those travellers who under my shady branches repose. Those girls who collected fragrant petals & buds from my boughs. I demanded nothing from you but just the warmth of your company, And today Im being slain. Was this my destiny? Dont forget my textured; my leaves juvenile jade. Dont let my memories in your heart ever fade. I cared & still I care for you. I hope our friendship will be forever new. I wish for an afterlife again to serve you. With this single wish I bid you adieu!
