The signing ceremony between the EU and selected Eastern Partnership members has passed; Ukraine took no part. Regardless of Yanukovychs complete lack of any participation, he nonetheless took part in the group photo. It has also been made clear that no letter of intent was signed either, because Viktor Yanukovych has expressed his wishes to continue negotiations with the EU only on the condition of involving representatives of the Russian Federation. (!!!!) Before the ceremony, Yanukovych refused to extend his hand to his colleagues, including Angela Merkel, with whom he met on Friday morning. He was seated in the corner next to the Belorussian representative. Nobody apart from his translators even talked to him during the course of the ceremony, remarked journalist Kristin Berzhens’ka.
