The sizzling World Cup has since come to an end and most soccer fans cant wait for the 2014-2015 season to kick off especially to watch new stars that had dazzled in Brazil. They have been massive procurement this period as teams look to further strengthen the dept of their squad. However, what a lot of the football community have failed to consider are players whose departure would leave their old team reeling. Arsenal This season could see Arsenal sell their captain again. although it may not generate as much disappointment for the fans, it will still put the team in jeopardy if a backup CB is not recruited considering the number of games to be played coupled with Pers age and speed Sagna, The 30 years old rightback improved by miles in his last season at the Emirate but has been replaced with former Newcastle man, Debuchy. The problem, however is that although the clinical, efficient Sagna was never a goal creating or scoring warlord neither is Debuchy. The latter who is just a year younger, on the other hand, has scored more points in the bad boys book instead. Chelsea The other London Club have had the most successful transfer dealings this period. Not just in numbers but in quality. The abysmal outing of Brazil which saw former defender David Luiz display high positional indiscipline will leave Chelsea awashed with relief that they had offloaded him to PSG prior to that time. And whats better? at a deliciously insane price. The Blues who have been applauded for their defensive powerhouse have since not replaced David leaving defensive duties to Cahill and proficient captain John Terry who sadly is aging. Atletico Madrid Where Chelsea has benefited immensely, the La Liga defending champion hasnt. This season has seen to the departure of Thibaut Courtois, Diego Costa, Filipe Luis, David Villa, Tiago, Adrian Lopez and Diego and also goalkeepers Sergio Asenjo and Roberto. Phew! In the past, Atletico Madrid has had an uncanny ability to turn average players to super stars. Except they can perfect their jazz with the new crop of players they have recruited or still have, we might be heading to the two horse race spanish league we are used to. Southampton The quip selling club would just be a gross understatement for Southampton so we will just call them The book of Exodus. The Saints have sold and are still ready to sell many of their big names with Lallana, Shaw, Lovren, Lambert and possibly Chambers topping the list . Why that is a serious problem is that they have acquired only two arguably untested replacements We hope the Saints who enjoyed a largely successful season last term savouring fifth position for a long time and finishing decently at top 10 have some tricks up their sleeve. It will hurt to see another giant killer slain. Liverpool Yeah! you guessed right! Liverpool is the new improved Southampton. Hehe. Rodgers Brendan is desperately trying to fortify his team after the huge loss of Luiz Suarez to Bitelonia...(It was the combination anyways) The marquee striker, controversial or not will be missed by not just Liverpool but the entire EPL community. I hope to be stunned bt forget Sturridge and co. This Liverpool team have lost their bite! To be continued.
