The skin is thin on some parts of the body and thicker on others, - TopicsExpress

The skin is thin on some parts of the body and thicker on others, as on the palms and soles; but even where it is only one thirty-second of an inch in depth, it is made up of four seperate layers. The outer layer of cells, the epidermis, is the one you see. This layer is constantly flaking and rubbing off. But that need not worry you, for it is forever bieng renewed from underneath. Under it is always a fresh layer, growing from the buds of the living cells below. Interlaced through these growing layers are the capillaries of the skins own circulatory system. These tiny blood vessels are of a special design, unlike capillaries elsewhere in the body. They are shaped like hairpin loops, each one curving up and down again, carrying the nutritious blood to the cells in every layer of your skin. And your skin is bieng newly made every day, every hour, by the growing layer of skin below. Those cells, which you do not see, can make a finer, healthier skin for you, but only if you give them the materials to work with. Those materials can come only through the blood, flowing up and down the tiny capillary loops, in and out among the cell layers of your skin. What are these life-giving elements?
