The slow moving upper level low is finally on the move. Showers - TopicsExpress

The slow moving upper level low is finally on the move. Showers and a few thundershowers have been wrapping around the backside of the departing low. A few of the stronger storms have produced what we call cold air funnels. Think of a cold air funnel like the plug being pulled on a sink drain. The warm air is rising so fast within the center of the storm that it causes the air to rotate much like the water in the sink. Cold air funnels often stay aloft and are not dangerous. It cases of very cold air high up a funnel may briefly touch down and do minor damage such as flipping over trampoline’s etc. This rain will come to an end as the sun goes down tonight. Wednesday still looks like a delightful day! It will be fogy in the morning and commuters should take this into account. The sun then breaks out around noon and leads to a very nice afternoon. Unfortunately thunderstorms roll back in during the day Thursday as the next disturbance quickly rolls towards the Ozarks. These storms then sink south into Arkansas on Friday leaving our Missouri residents mostly dry. There may be a period of intense rain Thursday night and Friday morning so we will have to watch for the possibility of flooding. Saturday looks good with highs in the mid 80s. A few pop up storms are possible on Sunday as highs reach the upper 80s.
