The so called school reform movement continues to miss the point. John Dewey taught that schools should prepare students for the time in which they live. The reform or blame movement is determined to test and test and test again. What are they testing? They are testing the 19th and 20th century curriculum. They make the tests harder and harder and they tell us that the results mean something. Folks like Jeb Bush and Arne Duncan commit America to a statistical heaven of misinformation. Education is a people business. And it does need reform, not one tied to the last century as the Core is, but one that is tied to sound inclusive educational policies - policies driven by belief in methods developed in THIS century. Today, teacher evaluations are being tied to student grades on these so called important national tests. What should be measured? How about listening skills? How about character? Consider the results of this basketball game in California - how do you measure the results in this situation? sportzedge/2015/01/13/sportsmanship-questioned-as-girls-high-school-basketball-game-in-california-ends-in-incredible-161-2-score/
