The source of the images on todays Poster From The Past is from the German cartoon artist Heinrich Kley who passed away back in 1941. His strange, witty and sometimes bizarre images were very popular with the psychedelic artists of the 1960s, and although they were not often directly copied as legendary rock artist Wes Willson did here and then surrounded it with his usual great lettering. Kleys general influence on psychedelic rock posters is quite substantial. This image was also the inspiration for the Grateful Dead Album Terrapin Station. This is a difficult to find poster that always enjoys top demand, and is quickly snapped up when really nice condition copies are offered for sale. It is number #15 in the original Fillmore poster series and was printed two times. It was 48 years ago on this day back in 1966, that this one night only dance/concert took place with the Turtles and the Oxford Circle at the Fillmore Auditorium right here were the music was Groovy, San Francisco of course! The Turtles big hit that was their only number one on the charts at the time. Happy Together. Another one was a Bob Dylan tune, It aint me Babe. Remember that one? No, no, no… It aint me youre lookin for Babe. https://youtube/watch?list=RDmRCe5L1imxg&v=mRCe5L1imxg Share these Turtles with a friend! Outta my shell with Approval by Professor Poster
