The starting of Pam and Mike’s 2013 August Adventure is going - TopicsExpress

The starting of Pam and Mike’s 2013 August Adventure is going great. We started out early this morning, 8-17-13 with showers before 6:00 a.m. and I finished packing and loading the car. The most important items, the computers, were loaded last so we could get to them when we stopped. Pamela finished up the remaining dishes and I hung up the remaining laundry. I did my morning posting and then packed the computers. I also took out the trash and left everything good at home. We left the house at 6:45 a.m. and drove to the McDonalds up the pass on Hwy. 138 turnoff. We had a breakfast $1.00 burrito and a large cup of coffee each. We were back on the road and drove to Baker, CA and stopped at a Burger King for a walk around break and a large iced tea each. I took this opportunity to make the room reservation for the St. George, UT Motel 6 and was given a confirmation number. We got back on the road and drove as far as the rest stop before the State Line due to needing another walk around break due to the Iced Tea and then to the Gold Strike for lunch. We joined the players club and had a great buffet brunch. We played for $20.00 worth and then drove to Las Vegas and drove down the strip so that Pamela could take a bunch of pictures. We gassed up at a Shell station on the strip and we are getting about 29 mpg. This Charger is amazing. We stopped and I had a chocolate dipped iced cream cone and Pamela got a sugar free iced coffee at McDonald’s. After leaving McDonald’s we were getting back on the freeway and it said to stay in the right hand lane for Salt Lake City. Well I stayed in the right hand lane and it took us in a big circle and landed us right back at the signal we had just left only we were headed onto the freeway instead of making a left at this same signal. We finally got on the freeway and then headed for St. George Utah. I got very sleepy and Pamela drove the last 100 miles into St. George while I had a nap. I woke up long enough to take some pictures of the beautiful landscape on the drive through the mountains leading into St. George, UT. I feel wonderful right now. We did a circle route to find the Motel 6 we are staying at but that just proves that she can go in circles also not just me. Of course I reminded that I told her to turn right, not left like we should have gone. There was a little mix up by the booking agent for our room but the desk clerk was very helpful and got it straightened out in short order. We checked into our room and were supplied with free WIFI.
