The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lords doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:22-23 For some reason this scripture was on my heart this morning and I couldnt get it out of my head. Its about rejection and we all know how badly rejection can hurt. Whether its not being chosen for a job, not having our affections being returned by a significant other, or just not making a team or some other thing weve desired. I dont know about you but I often take rejection very personally. I wonder whats wrong with me what did I do wrong why am I not good enough? Then we hear those cliches like When one door closes, another one opens. But if were honest sometimes a door closes and we are left standing there with just a closed door. No other doors in sight, let alone another open one. How then are we to handle this hurtful process of putting ourselves out into this world and being rejected? Psalms 118:22-23 tells us! People may and, most likely at some point in your life, reject you. They will stop you from getting something you wanted or thought you needed. Thats not always a bad thing. Because God is able to take that and turn it into something beautiful and marvelous. Now this scripture doesnt say that your feelings wont be hurt or that every single time youre rejected, it means youre going to be made the head cornerstone. Instead it reminds us that our Hope is built in God because He has the power to do marvelous things even in our rejection. God is able to make us the head stone of the corner. Wow, what a title! So if like me, youve been down about being rejected recently, remember what God can do and how marvelous itll be in our eyes!
