The story behind the trophy..... Dec. 13th, 2013, I was working midnights and campaigning and trying to get as much time in the woods as possible and I was dog tired. As I sat in the hunting shed eating lunch, I was contemplating going home to sleep before my last midnight shift. I actually had packed up some of my stuff and then stopped. I had hunted hard that week and had actually missed a couple deer due to my scope somehow getting knocked off sight. I had corrected that problem and hadnt seen a deer since. At the last minute I decided I had hunted too hard to just go home and got my stuff together and headed back to my stand. It was getting towards dusk and I was texting my brother in law when I heard something running on the ridge behind me and a doe and a big buck came running down the hill 80 yards from me. I dropped my phone mid text and tried to stop them but it wasnt working so I picked out a spot and when he ran into it took the shot. He was dead on his feet but fell into the steepest part of a ravine. I knew he was big but not how big until my friends and I got to him. He was a real trophy!! Now I know I may have ruffled some feathers with the anti hunting crowd telling this story but I just got the mount back today and the memories came flooding back. All of the meat, I donated to a food bank in the county and it helped feed those less fortunate or down on their luck so get over it please!!! Morale of the story...there will be times when you feel too tired to go on..you may be frustrated...you may want to quit...DONT YOU DO IT!!! Keep pushing, keep trying, find the strength to go on...you never know what trophy or success may be waiting at the end!!!
