The story of Lot and his unwise choices is a testament to being - TopicsExpress

The story of Lot and his unwise choices is a testament to being led by emotions and not the will of God. Here was a man with so much wealth and increase of servants, flocks and herds that he could not remain in the same land as Abraham. Yet, when we see him in the nineteenth chapter, he is sitting at the gate of the city that took everything from him. Lot felt that turning his wealth and company towards Sodom, would produce a greater reward. Instead, he faced one disaster after another. The fact that he was sitting at the gate is evidence that he had become a judge in that wicked city. Too many well intended Christians are making major choices without consulting godly counsel. They are thinking that they have the answer to turn the world around and bring them to their senses. But like Lot, they run the risk of losing their effectiveness because now they are the judge, juror and executioner of a divisive plan of Satan. Sadly, Lot was not able to convince anyone to leave with him except his wife and two daughters. In the end, he lost his wife, servants, wealth and all of his resources. He got what he wanted – a break away from Abraham, but he lost what he had. Never give up following the headship of God so you can get something for your flesh.
