The story so far... Originally conceived back in 2004, this - TopicsExpress

The story so far... Originally conceived back in 2004, this british retro/classically styled tourer has seen almost surreal chapters and twists of fate in its evolution. No wonder then when thinking of a fitting name for this car, Martins mum soon came up with Enigma. The car was originally styled as a modern interpretation of a Healey 3000 and taken to the boardroom of MG Rover (who had the Healey name). The idea was to fit the body to the MG SV and use the running gear from the Rover 75 V8. Sadly Rovers demise meant the project never got off the ground. in 2006/07 the concept car was shown at a couple of kit car shows and the encouraging response gave the team the reassurance to re-engineer the project using the more up to date MX5 as a donor vehicle. This inspiration came from another British sportscar manufacturer (Lotus) who used Toyota running gear to underpin the Excel to improve quality and reliability (Martin is a serious Lotus enthusiast and often muses over which kit car James Bond might drive today: Esprit or Enigma?) . Healy Designs redevelopment of the Enigma ultimately took five years - as Mick Snell says sometimes Martin would tell me he just spent three days adding a bracket to the chassis. 2013 witnessed the unveiling of the Mk I kit at Stoneleigh show. The car was well received by the media and public alike. It was always the intention to develop cars to cover the MX5 model variants, so 2014 saw the launch of Mk II and Mk III based Enigmas. Mk I is sold as a kit, Mk II and III are available as kits or complete, handbuilt cars
