The street blocking protests are one of the most counterproductive things I have ever seen. I was in the CWE last night and witnessed the street blocking and sing in last night. Many of the bystanders were talking and I was listening close to what was said. The basic message from most people is that the system is corrupt and needs change, but all these protesters are pissing people off and alienating supporters. People who support the cause are not supporting the protesters because the protesters are hurting the average joe and not the government. A blocked street doesnt do shit to hurt the government, but it does make your average person angry at the protesters, and then people rally around the police because they cleared the road. If you want to stop the police state, drive a wedge between people and the police, not the people and the protesters. Getting in the face of a shopper isnt doing the protesters any good either, every non government person you make angry by harassment or blocking the road is another nail in the coffin of the protest movement. Why not choose a government building to protest? Did Wal-Mart pull the trigger and kill someone? No. So why protest there, or at any other business? Choose your targets more carefully, or you will alienate all your supporters.
