The tapestry panel to become part of the huge tapestry in Scotland - TopicsExpress

The tapestry panel to become part of the huge tapestry in Scotland is now finished and on its way back to Scotland. This panel which shows Endumeni Mountain, early settlers and the links with coal mining and agriculture will become a permanent advert for Dundee as this huge tapestry goes on display in Scotland and then around the United Kingdom and later around the world. A book with photos of the stitchers and explanation of each panel will be printed to travel with the tapestry and be available for sale. What a great way to promote our town. Pam McFadden at Talana Museum took the initiative to get involved in this project and worked with the organising committee and designers in Scotland to get the design to reflect our area, wrote the text for the book and encourage local ladies to stitch the panel. Rosheni Bedassi ( who is also the Chairperson of the Talana Museum Board of Trustees), Lyn Buitendag and Marie Mordue were the 3 ladies who agreed to work on the panel and the finished product is a great credit to them, their abilities and also to our town. Thank you Rosheni, Lyn and Marie – especially Marie who is a very accomplished embroiderer and took overall decisions on the stitches to be used. She recently won an international award for an embroidery that she had completed. As usual much goes on in our town that we never know about as skilled and talented people just go about their lives.
