The team working behind the scenes of Family Day Care Educators - TopicsExpress

The team working behind the scenes of Family Day Care Educators United are all passionate and professional Family Day Care Educators from all over Australia. We all have different backgrounds and experiences, different visions, goals and beliefs. But we work together on Family Day Care Educators United as we all strongly believe that there really is no widely known, clear and actively engaged representation purely for Family Day Care Educators voices, and we know there are times when educator’s voices are not being heard, and this needs to change. We believe that if we are professional, but targeted, active and vocal people will start listening to us and consulting with us in the future. As admins we have seen complaints time and time again in FDC forums - educators need to feel they have a voice, and they want something to align themselves with, and that’s what we are hoping to offer here. We are all volunteering our time, effort, expertise and putting in money out of our own pockets for advertising and legal fees to further promote and support Family Day Care, and we hope that Educators will feel they can align with us to represent the industry and support our efforts and approach us at all times. The members of the admin team willing to be publicly named are: Peita Swaysland Main Roles: Media Correspondence, Social Media Management & Educator Relations Peita is a Family Day Care Educator in NSW who has been working in the industry for the past 8 years and was named Regional Family Day Care Educator of the Year 2014. She is passionate about early childhood, and grew up with her own mother doing FDC. Peita brings a calm and confident media presence and a great understanding of the early childhood industry regulations and legislation to the team. She is also an admin for the Family Day Care Educators Support Network group and is passionate about assisting and supporting educators. Peita is an enthusiastic family Day Care Educator who likes to be involved with training and promotion, both within her schemes coordination unit and within the Family Day Care Sector as a whole. Ell Mead Main Roles: Legal & Political Correspondence, Media, Publicity / Marketing Management & Content Advisor Ell is a Family Day Care Educator from NSW, who has been in the FDC sector for the past 14 months, was named a Regional Educator of the Year for 2014 and has worked in the early childhood profession for over 18 years. Ell brings to the team experience in event management, graphic design and community leadership and has previous experience in assisting with community run campaigns and advocacy. She has been actively involved in research and advocacy within the Family Day Care Sector and is a passionate and well respected industry representative. Louise Shaw Main Roles: Social Media Management & Educator Relations Louise is a Family Day Care Educator in VIC. Originally from Nottingham, UK, she moved to Australia in 20017. She brings 15 years of finance, IT and Senior Analysis experience to the team. Louise is a dedicated Educator who transferred into the industry in order to care for her child and others after seeing her son experiencing negative care giving in a center environment. Louise created the group Family Day Care Educators Support Network in order to connect and assist educators and is extremely passionate about supporting and standing up for Family Day Care Educators. Kahlia Mattiuzzo Main Roles: Research & Advocacy, Spokesperson & Content Management Kahlia is a Family Day Care Educator in QLD who has been in the FDC sector for 2.5 years, and the childcare industry 12 years. Kahlia brings to the team an extensive understanding of the early childhood education and care industry and a passion to reach out and speak up for Family Day Care within the community. Kahlia will be personally affected by the Family Assistance Law legislation amendment and is absolutely committed to seeing this legislation revoked and the rights of Family Day Care Educators recognized. This team is backed up by 3 other passionate and well respected educators, who at this time for various reasons, wish to remain behind the scenes. We also have campaign advice and assistance from Matthew (surname witheld) a Community Run and GetUp! Australia campaign adviser and a law firm based in Newcastle, NSW, (name withheld until we seek consent to publicly name them on this page). We also have a number of educators in different regions organised for media and promotional roles in the New Year. We welcome any, and all, educators support, ideas and suggestions at all times. Please be reminded that any negative or attacking comments made on this page or to any of our admin team will be reported to facebook and followed up on where necessary.
