The tennis gods have been smiling on Maria Sharapova so far this week. First Li Na fell in Round 1, then her unbeatable foe Serena is taken out, and now another troubling opponent Dominika Cibulkova bites the dust at Stosurs hand. Cibulkova won her last 2 clay matches against Maria (including once at Roland Garros) and took her out in Australia. Previous French Open winners Ivanovic/Kuznetsova in the final would have the best chance of stopping her. But neither have been the most consistent and both are playing against opponents with winning head to heads against them today, either getting to the final is a very big if. But even against them Marias still be favourite. Then there is Serena-slayer Muguruza. Giant-killers rarely follow up that success with a winning run after. But maybe Muguruza build on her incredible win. If she can keep up that sort of form, shell be very dangerous. The womens draw has been upset filled. Radwanska also fell this morning. So theres no guarantees for any player. Still Sharapova has every reason to be hopeful of grasping Coupe Suzanne Lenglen again going into her 3rd match.
