The thing about seeing boys & men online is that I tend to see a lot crazy hard core postings. Perhaps aggressive? I understand the macho typing, because I am a man. But my question is would you conduct yourself in such a manner, offline? I see postings that come right out of the playlist of a gangster rap album one minute & then some socially-conscious rap album, the next minute. Are you a man who knows how to protect your family, your friends & yourself? Do you know how to box or street fight---plant your feet, shield your face, time your jab, walk in if your punches open up your oppositions shield? If you are a man, I sure hope so. Now, I am talking about learning & knowing how to defend yourself---let me repeat, DEFEND YOURSELF & those that you love. No bullying methods or promotion of violence is laced inside of this posting. Growing up in East Baltimore, as boys we learned how to fight, we won some, we lost some, we even had a Tie or two; furthermore, we knew how to back up what we spoke about. Even as the teenage years came into our community & you could get a gun quicker than a library card, knowing how to fight to defend yourself was necessary. I lost more than a few friends to the fate decided by a gun, but in hindsight, if those shooters skipped those boyhood street boxing lessons, those inmates were going to take you apart, piece by piece. Step away from the streets & as a man, if you cannot box, how can you defend your lady when another man crossed that line with her? A sound awakes your lady at night & she awakes you, so that you can go & check on that sound, what are you going to do---send her to go & see, while you go hide in the bathroom? Maybe you might even Tweet about it, Sounds awakened me & my Bae! All that gangster hard core posting to winning back your community does nothing if you cannot stand up & physically protect yourself. All the poetic postings, art stuff does nothing when it comes to being a wall for those who you will protect. Muhammad Ali recited poetry very well & he thru a perfect jab. You wont ever see me online aggressively arguing with a man, because my mind training would take it offline & if I see you offline---I am not trying to hear that, it was just the internet. We are going to talk man to man, not thru subliminal postings. I grew up around serious men, so yes, I can be very serious. Again, this posting has nothing to do with fighting to be a bully or to swing your power into making someone afraid of you. It has everything to do with the reason why I strongly believe that boys should take boxing or karate classes to protect their mothers, sisters, & all of the ladies that they love. I often hear about how the kids of today do not have the wise lessons that those of us who were born in the 1970s & early 1980s experienced. They do not go outside & play & that they rarely put their electronic devices down. Why should they? If they see the older men typing that hard core mess in their postings, why should they learn how to shield their face & place the surface of their thumb under their knuckles when making a punch while tucking your chin in to keep it protected? We lead by example, more accurately today, we lead by postings. Shaun/Arts.
