The thirteenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship - TopicsExpress



          

The thirteenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship attracted soaring temperatures and a crowd of 16,000 for the first ever Grand Prix to be held at the Circus Maximus. Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings handed another overall victory to KTM, while Clement Desalle and Ken De Dycker were second and third in MX1 and Jordi Tixier and Glenn Coldenhoff completed the MX2 podium. MX1 Gautier Paulin crashed in the beginning of the first race when he was in the lead and was taken to hospital. Reports are that he is okay but may not be able to take part in the next round in the Czech Republic this weekend. Tommy Searle took a strong third place in the first race and fourth in the second. TM, 174 p.; MX2 Jeffrey Herlings had a perfect weekend, comfortably wining both motos. Max Anstie had one of the best weekends of the season by finishing fifth overall. The British rider did not have a good start in the first race, but he managed to move from his initial thirteenth position to a final fourth place. Anstie was fifth after the start of the second race and in the second half of the moto he exchanged third position with Coldenhoff. Anstie made a mistake when he was third, and ended up in ninth place but fourth overall. Jake Nicholls finished eighth in both races and seventh overall. Mel Pocock obtained the Get Athena Holeshot Award in the first race, but he crashed in the first lap and was only able to finish sixteenth.
