The top photo (from a private collection) was likely taken from high up in the dome of the new Capitol Building about 1913 or so; the modern view was taken from Statuary Hall in 2013. Its a poor copy of the historic image, but if you click on it, you can see a few details. The towered building to the left edge of the photo is the Idaho Brewing Company (later the Bohemian Brewing Company) on the southwest corner of 6th and Idaho, where the City Hall garage is located now. Capitol Park did not yet exist, and houses, mostly lodging and boarding houses, lined the north side of Bannock Street. The vacant spot on the south side of the street is now occupied by the 1950s-era telephone building. The new Boise and Interurban Depot is on the southwest corner of 6th and Bannock. That is the location of the lovely parking garage attached to what we call the Key Business Center, but what started out in the 1960s as the Bank of Idaho building. The Union Pacific Depot, one of Boises most revered landmarks, was still just a dream when the historic photo was taken.
