The transmorgrification and chameleoning of the African culture is so aggravting, exacerbating and disheartening to the extent that our languages is smiling at extinction. Just of recent, an expert in Yoruba language and mythology publicly decried and lamented on the gradual and insiduous depletion of the language. The mythologist verbalized his displeasure on the inability of the speakers of the language to speak fluently and proficiently without code-mixing and code-switching. He went further to sress on the fact that some of the Yorubas deny their tribe in institutionalized discourse setting. This is the menace and enigma that is not peculiar to the Yorubas alone but Africa in general. Another success and achievement of colonialism is the christianization and islamization of Africa. It is lugubrious and sour to take that the tradtional religion is tagged as an embodiment of evil. Africa is so tamed to an appalling extent that traditionalists are seen as perpetrators of evil. But the question I must ask is, why do most Africans travel with one of their legs at home and the other in the Diaspora? From this question, it is open-secret that the tradition is the cradle and grave of Africa, inspite of the fact that we shy and corner away from it. This inexhaustible speech is soley aimed at cultural renaissance. Thanks!
