The trial of Shaheed-e-azam Bhagath Singh is an exemplary story of devout patriotism and love for motherland. The historic event marked the end of the utopian non-violent struggle which had proved to be futile. After summoned by court the trial began. During trial, the revolutionaries, never even once made a statement defending their act of throwing bombs inside Assembly Chambers and said they felt no necessity to make statement. But once the prosecution evidence had been completed, Bhagat Singh, prepared his written statement that was read out in court by his lawyer Asaf Ali. The historic statement was so touching that the entire court could not hide their eyes dimmed with tears. One of the excerpts from his statement in the court : The bomb was necessary to awaken England from her dreams. We dropped the bomb on the floor of the Assembly chamber to register our protest on behalf of those who had no other means left to give expression to their heart-rending agony. Our sole purpose was to make the deaf hear and give the heedless a timely warning. Others have as keenly felt as we have done and from such seemingly stillness of the sea on Indian humanity, a veritable storm is about to break out. We have only hoisted the Danger Signal to warn those who are speeding along without heeding to grave dangers ahead. We have marked the end of an era of Utopian non-violence of whose futility the rising generation has been convinced beyond the shadow of doubt. The statement ended with the slogan Inquilab Zindabad
