The true colour of UKip Voting for UKip is same as voting for a fascist party. UKip is not a political party that is fit to serve the 21st century multicultural and multi faith Europe. It represents the ugliest side of UK today. In an article written by Alex Andreou for The New Statesman brilliantly sums up what UKip truly stands for: “Ukip’s manifesto is a collection of promises selected, seemingly, on the basis of “twenty things that really annoy people”, with no inkling of implementation method or any costings; a wish list for The Annoyed. Scared of immigrants? Vote Ukip. Insecure about the financial crisis? Vote Ukip. Hate the smoking ban, HS2, Brussels, travellers, burqas, regulation, tax, Boris, debt, wind farms, quangos, foreign aid, crime, Abu Qatada, tuition fees, lazy people, Muslims, foreigners, the hunting ban? Vote Ukip.” Gerard Batten and people like him are the mouthpiece and champions of the new form of Nazism and Fascism that is sadly increasing across Europe. Gerard Batten has gained notoriety for being an extremist in every way possible and he should not be representing London’s diverse communities in European Parliament. In this European election we should all rise and stand together against hatred and extremism and kick him out. I grew up fighting racism in the East end of London and I thought my children would live in a safe and hate free environment. The new brand of racism is Islamophobia and the new brand of fascism is Muslim hatred. I will not feel safe in the UK and Europe as long as there are people like Gerard Barren espousing outright discrimination and hatred. I will not feel safe for my children anymore as I believe they are creating a conveyor belt for his followers to turn into violent mobs attacking Muslims and mosques. I will not rest until such bigots are defeated and confined to museums. I invite you to also not rest until we have rid our society of such abhorrent views. Let them remain a living example of how hatred can turn people into monsters. We must stand together to bring Islamophobia and Muslim hatred to an end now and not wait for another gas chamber or mass murder to take place under our watch. Gerard represents the worst of Europe and his party UKip is its face. He should be locked up and his party should be exposed as racist. But at the same time we must remember the ordinary people of Europe must not be tarnished by the evil of these people.
