The ultimate birthday song, from The White Album. I would play - TopicsExpress

The ultimate birthday song, from The White Album. I would play Pink Floyds Time, followed by The Beatles. What I love about what The Beatles did was the use of the guitar mic inside the piano, which produced that nice, haunting echo. I believe John said it was an idea conceived by himself, Paul, and George. A lot of people have criticized the album as being overrated, and being nothing more than a bunch of songs mashed together from music written from their trip to India. However, I see it as an artistic expression of The Beatles as individuals, which they were becoming at that point. The next album they would record in the studio would be released after Abbey Road as Let It Be. The goal was to put out some new material, and do their first live performance in over three years. But tensions were at their highest, and George quit in the middle of the recording. He would return, and finally it was decided to record the remainder of the album on the rooftop of Apple Studios, which has been imitated many times since. George Martin said he was shocked when the band said they were going to record another album in the summer of 1969, which would be Abbey Road, their final one. It is estimated that The Beatles have sold close to 1.4 billion albums worldwide in 52 years, a record that possibly may never be broken.
