The ultra wealthy (then called the nobility and royalty) ran France into the ground, and (like the republicans) screwed over the rest of the social classes untill in 1789 the people had had enough. They revolted and the nobility and royalty met thweir fate at the guillotine. It is getting to the point where the republicans are getting due for a trip to the guillotine and since they have already lost their minds, the loss of their head will not be a bad thing.
