The video of the man helping the fox reminds me of a random act of kindness I performed only a couple weeks back. I was hiking up in the hills on Lantau. It was real hot and I stopped in a small village to buy water from one of those stores that are really like just a guy’s front room with a drinks fridge in it. Mostly, they also sell other things, but this one just had the fridge. In fact, it wasn’t really a drinks fridge, just a fridge with drinks in it. So, anyways, I’d just taken a can of Blue Girl from this old guy’s fridge and tossed him five bucks for it (I guessed it cost five bucks cause he just shook one hand at me, kinda like a fist), when I saw just across the street there’s a snake out on the porch of this house. The poor critter was obviously suffering in the heat and was trying to get in through the door. So, being the kindly soul I am, I crossed the street and opened the door for the snake, and it gratefully slithered inside. Took some time cause it was a big snake—maybe eight feet long. Had real pretty markings on it, kinda like a giraffe. Anyways, as I set off again on my hike, I can see inside the house there’s an old lady in a wheelchair, waving at me real enthusiastic, with both hands, so I guess she was happy about my act of kindness too.
