The way I see it….. My Random Weird world… The few avenue kids that skateboard down to volunteer around the factory came yesterday….did some chores for me and then we were just talking and bonding in my studio… One of them had their skateboard run over by a car yesterday and another one was on its last leg…So I was going to make a call and see what I could do to get them some new decks…Now here is the strange part…I was just talking with the boys about how well they were doing on their handshakes…manners and introducing themselves to people …looking them in the eye and saying their names clearly and loud enough…they have been working on it and it was noticeable…they felt good about it…so did I. So…I call my buddy JD down at Ventura Avenue Thriftstore…put my phone on speaker and say…Hey Bro I have a few kids from the Avenue who need some new skateboard decks…car crush and just thrashed…Help me out ?….Of course but I want you to send them to me first so I can meet them..I want to shake their hands and look em in the eye first and see who Im helping… You should have seen their faces when they heard that…I told you it was important.…..so random. Next an artist comes in to see me about a large space I have for rent…. I instantly like her…great story….interesting..worldly but very humble and kind. She felt intimidated about her artwork but felt drawn here to meet people and grow….said she doesnt have many friends and wants to be around creatives to help her work as well as be part of a community because she is a bit isolated. She was German and spoke with a heavy accent as well as having a temporary Lisp because of some dental work….I took her down the hall to meet one of our long term tenants who is also from Germany and has heavy accent…with a lisp because of her dental work and braces……I just left them alone and then she came back in to sign the lease…. I love my world… Peace.
