The way that our brain affects our health is profound...So very true. Having a painful/incurable disease doesnt mean there should be a loss of hope or loss of quality of life and positive attitude. I strive to make my days count and find eveb the smallest of reasons to smile no matter what pain Im dealing with from IC (or my other conditions). It may seem like Im fine most of the time because of this very attitude, but really, I am in some kind of pain constantly and on a ton of meds, so dont let it fool you. This disease is tough. But so am I. Im glad to see that IC was mentioned on this show and explained in a sort of simple manner for people to better understand what it is. The girl in the clip has a far worse case than mine (probably due to the specific cause of the breakdown of the proteins in the lining, in my case its a high Mast cell count and overactive release of histamine from them, whereas her pain could be from tiny ulcers), but some days the pain can get as bad as hers. Luckily for her Hydrodistention worked. It didnt work for me though and after my next treatment under anesthesia (a medication injection directly into the trigonal area of my bladder) Ill be out of options other than to continue treating the pain. Im hoping it will help, though. And research continues and there are still possibilities for future new treatments and hopefully one day a cure. But yeah, glad to see this getting some air time to spread awareness. Makes me happy to see that its no longer something doctors view as all in your head and that theres finally physical proof of whats going on that can be shared with the public for better awareness.
