The word “Ebola” has joined the word “bomb” as a term to avoid at all costs when in an airport or on a plane. Joking about either is a serious no-no. A video showing what happened after a passenger apparently made a joke about Ebola serves as a graphic warning. It occurred on a US Airways Flight from Philadelphia to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, part of an island in the Caribbean. The in-flight Ebola scare started when a passenger yelled: “I’ve been to Africa” and “I have Ebola, you are all screwed” just before the US Airways flight landed, according to an airport official quoted by Fox News Latino. A video posted on Youtube shows what happened next, after the plane landed. The aircraft was isolated on the tarmac and boarded by a team of security and medical officials in full Ebola gear – HAZMAT moon-suits, gas respirators, quarantine equipment, the works. A flight attendant is heard addressing passengers before the quarantine team boards, saying: “I’ve done this for 36 years, and I think that the man who has said this is an idiot, and I’ll say that straight out.” The man who made the joke is put into a white jumpsuit and escorted from the aircraft. He was found to be clear of Ebola but was deported from the Dominican Republic. You can view the YouTube clip here: https://youtube/watch?v=LJhWVsx1U8c Written by Peter Needham
