I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the messages of sympathy for the loss of Breeze yesterday... A few people asked what had happened to him. In August he had some sort of episode whilst playing in the garden, vet said that it was neurological it affected his balance and walking - they said that it could right itself but may take up to 8 months to improve or he could get worse.... sadly it was the latter. In December his condition changed and his walking got worse, so he was put on steroids the vet said it would just buy us more time with him. He had a bad weekend, just constantly falling or tripping, but on Monday he was OK - Tuesday he could not stand in the morning unaided, but was able to sit and eventually walk in the afternoon. Wednesday Morning he could not stand, had no balance and was distressed, we gave him breakfast, and made that dreaded phone call, the vet came to the house as he hated the vets... He never even tried to get up when they came in. The vet asked if wed had enough time with him, and my husband said - no we would like another 10 years... He drifted away whilst munching on special treats and being told that he was a brave boy and that Cash and Chase would be waiting for him in the special place I told him about earlier that morning and amongst many tears... We have now lost 3 whippets in 2 years, Puzzle our last whippet has 2 papillons for company, but he sorely misses Breeze. Thank you again x
