The word from the doctors this morning is steady as she goes. If Bertie continues to progress as she has been the last few days, she could potentially come off the ventilator in 3 days. They want her O2 down to 40 or below and her Peep down to 5 to be able to take her off of the ventilator. Pray that her lungs continue to heal and become more elastic again. Berties heart is still in atrial fibrillation, which should reverse itself as she recovers, pray that her heart stays strong. Most importantly we need to pray that the extensive measures we have taken to help Bertie do not cause their own issues. She doesnt need any new complications! If all goes well, after she is taken off the ventilator, Bertie will spend another day in the ICU being monitored, then move to the ward, where she will continue to be monitored and undergo physical therapy to recover her strength. The cautious and optimistic outlook is several more weeks. This is a moment by moment process, and things could change at any moment. Pray that Bertie continues to improve!
