The world is a paradox and a duality. Pain and pleasure are received by the same nerve centers. Men kill for love and love to kill. There is birth and there is death. It seems to be opposites. But opposites do not exist in reality. It is all one complementary whole. Heroes and villains, Gods and Titans, compassionate and cruel, all these traits are intermixed in all beings. Bhagavad Gita classifies three major traits – Sattva, Raja and Tama. And these three recombine into a multitude of various ascending and descending admixtures. Also in the Bhagavad Gita it says man is himself his friend and himself his enemy. These polarities being a part of existence, they have a role to play and each will dominate at times. This is the game of life.
