The world is increasingly adopting the Bangladeshi model of democracy.....wherein elections lead to peaceful transition of power, but the losers do not accept the results for what they are, a mandate to the winners to pursue their policies.....what we are seeing in the US and also in India are filibustering/stalling of the parliament , challenges in courts of any and every decision, and continuous campaign in the media and on the streets to create an impression that the Government of the day lacks legitimacy and making it virtually impossible for the Government of the day to function....what is disturbing is the rawness and crudity of the confrontation and the near visceral hate for the other. What is even more disturbing is that these divisions have percolated down to the man in the street....even to the so called educated class...and the world is increasingly being viewed as black or white, even when we know it is otherwise.....
