UPDATE: Fire Chief Praises Emergency Crews, Everyday Citizens responding to Fatal Wreck Texas DPS Trooper Allan Dangleben is investigating the fatality accident that happened at approximately 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 80 and Loop 390 close to Scottsville. The two vehicle accident involved a tractor trailer and a pick up truck. The driver of the pickup truck was killed instantly, while authorities confirm the driver of the tractor trailer, a Cassity Jones truck, was air lifted to LSU Hospital in Shreveport for treatment of serious injuries. Unfortunately there is one confirmed death. Life Air was on scene to transport one suffering severe burns. At this time there are no other victims or injured patients. There was initially fire to both vehicles and surrounding areas. Fire units quickly extinguished with no issues. The tractor trailer was carrying an empty load so there were no other hazardous conditions of concern, said Marshall Fire Chief Reggie Cooper. According to Cooper, Marshall Fire/EMS, Marshall Police, DPS County ESD Three, and Sheriffs deputies all responded to the scene. Praise to all responding units for a job well done under the severe circumstances. Our prayers are with those involved in the severe crash on Hwy 80, said Cooper on Marshall Fire Departments Facebook page. Not only trained responders but to all those travelers and bystanders who risked their lives to aid in the life of another. One cant say enough about the power of human nature in helping others in need. Justice of the Peace Judge Nancy George pronounced the driver of the pick up truck deceased at scene of the accident at 3:33 p.m. The identity of both the deceased and the injured have not been released. Traffic in the area is still moving slowly.
