The world lost a great man, father, grandfather, big brother and uncle today. My uncle George McCarthy didnt lose the battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma today, he beat it. He beat it by accomplishing things he needed to do as a dad (being with all his children and grandchildren), as a brother (making sure his two younger siblings were doing okay many states away). He beat it by deciding he would determine when and where he would leave this world. He beat it by passing with dignity at his home, with the ones he loves most. I am proud as hell to call George McCarthy my uncle. My heart is heavy, and even though I did not see him on a regular basis, I miss him already. However, I am at peace with his passing, knowing he is now at peace. We love you uncle George, you can rest now.
