The year 2001 September I looked in The Pique, and Vancouver - TopicsExpress

The year 2001 September I looked in The Pique, and Vancouver newspapers for accommodation in Whistler. I had a job in Whistler, but no luck in securing a place to lay my head. I even put an add in the papers seeking accommodation. After much thought I decided to stay in Vancouver and work at Cypress Mountain. I lived in a small one bedroom apartment where I paid $350/month. I would take the bus to West Van and transfer to the Caulfeild Bus and get off at Westmount, just below the Cypress Bowl road. Then I hitch hiked up to Cypress. I soon met people commuting through the city where I got a ride in the morning. That was a pretty memorable season in my life. I learned to make and accept the housing situation which always will be in Whistler. I also enjoyed the night life in Vancouver such as the mountain staff pay day parties at the Blarney Stone. All three mountains, Cypress, Grouse, and Seymour had their payday party the same night. Wednesday I think it was. Oh ya the girl/guy ratio was reversed to that of Whistler. In the Spring, four of us left Cypress under unusual circumstances and worked a 3 week stint for Club Med Ski in Crested Butte. All inclusive work/holiday. We took limos to a from the Airport all on Club Meds bill. We had a bar tab that we never used because the guest kindly got that for us. The next year a couple went back to Club Med and I secured a room in Whistler in August. So if you cant find a place to lay your head here in Whistler, you can go to somewhere else and still have an awesome time. Oh ya Cypress received over 700cm base that year, I think Whistlers was about 400cm.
