The year signing off has been momentous for me as it might have been so for you too. As a probationer I learned the tricks of administration in jamshedpur. Worked and learned during general election there. Although all seniors helped us but the person who really groomed us was mr Prem Ranjan.( sdm sir). He told interesting anectodes to make us understand how to deal with tricky situations. On one evening we were sitting with him in his residence office, gossipying. One person came for pairavi for admission of his kids in an eminent school. He met with him in his typical friendly ways. Shook hands laughed and was very warm. When he prayed for his help. He said with a big smile arre aap mere priye hai aapka kaam nahi hoga aisa ho nahi sakta, ho jayega...when the person went away i asked if he would do what he wanted. He told me uska kaam ho jayega aisa bola ye thode na bole ki hum kar denge. We all laughed.Do what you are supposed to do but do it in a manner that everyone stays happy with you, he kept tellng us.Be warm and friendly to all but firm at work. Undoubtedly he is a prima dona in jamshedpur and very popular. Though i met many in the year that is passing by, he was one who impacted and touched. In hazaribag where i am posted i found one more officer who inspired me a lot. He is another ranjan. Yes mr. Ranjan Choudhary,( AC sir). He is at twilight of his career. He is a voracious reader. Very inventive. He has all the latest gizmos and operate them deftly. He is at least ten years ahead of us in terms of technology.Smart phone,tablets, e book reader, laptop and what not. His willingness to know and learn is outstanding.He loves books as do l. Extremly knowledgeable in revenue matters. His knowkedge relating to elections is encyclopeadic. I would like to express gratitude to these two ranjans who made the year2014 very special..
