Their, There, Theyre. Two, To, Too. Espresso.... Who Whom... - TopicsExpress

Their, There, Theyre. Two, To, Too. Espresso.... Who Whom... Ive been seeing a LOT of things that make my inner English Major twitch in pain. You are not going 2 the store. Dont be so lazy that you cant type two letters. You might be going TO the store to pick up TWO dozen eggs and might pick up some bacon TOO R,B, and C are letters... they are NOT words. ARE, BE and SEE are words...again...if youre not on some badly limited character posting site (Yes, its why I avoid Twitter) there is NO reason to be so lazy that you cant type a couple of more letters in order to actually have things correct. Now....Who and Whom? Well that I can understand getting a bit mixed up with. Who are you talking to? versus To Whom it may concern... I will admit that the rules for when to use Whom are not in my head. While I might expressly forbid something...Im not going to get an eXpresso. My dislike for coffee not withstanding...Ive seen ESPRESSO spelled wrong quite a few times on my feed (granted, once was deliberate :) ) As for one of the worst bashings the English language has been taking in recent years? Their, There, and Theyre.... Not interchangeable words. There: A location. I am going there. Their: Possessive form referring to more than one person having something. They took their toys. Theyre: A contraction of They Are. If you cant substitute They Are in a sentence you probably mean Their Theyre going to the theater. I have other grammatical pet peeves, but those are some of my biggest. This would probably be why I like Weird Al Yankovichs video for Word Crimes so much. In fact, I think Ill add it on here :)
