Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing. Revelation 5:11-12 The Crowded Throne The largest crowd I ever played football in front of was 105,526 spectators at the 1980 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. I can’t explain the sound that is generated from that many people but it is awe inspiring. There is a completely different audio quality if you are standing on the field than if you are sitting in the stands. The sound hits you in 360 degree waves and can be anything from exciting to intimidating. I have never heard anything like it since. The above verse in Revelation tells us of a future heavenly scene as recorded by John. If I am reading the passage right, he saw 100,000,000 (10,000 x 10,000) angels and elders around the throne of God, with at least 4,000,000 (2,000 x 2,000) of them saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the lamb who was slain…” Now that is crowd noise, the likes of which I can’t imagine! I am looking forward to seeing heaven someday. God’s word tells us, “But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. I am sure the sights, sounds, and experiences will be beyond anything we can comprehend. I am so thankful that my place in heaven has been guaranteed to me not by my works but by Jesus’ work on the cross for me. 1 John 5:13 tells us, “These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.” The word, “Believe,” used here does not mean the simple head knowledge that Jesus was a real person who existed on this earth. It means a belief that He was God the Son and the turning of one’s life over to His lordship. Heaven is my eternal destination and all of its sights and sounds will be the reward because of the free gift given to me, as undeserving as I am. I can’t wait to stand surrounded by that crowd. Yours in Christ, Pastor Brad
