Then & Now: Our Roush Crate 347 IR is a modern day version of the just posted 289 cid V8 with Webers. Kind of neat how this all went through the shop. Consider, both are based on the 8.2 ShortDeck Ford V8. So, its a nice and compact engine package. One is 289 cid all iron (heads and block) and the modern version is stuffed full of 347 cid with aluminum CNC ported heads / iron 4-bolt main block. Both are 8-Stacks, but, one has Weber Carburetors and the modern version is all modern PFI - EFI. A big difference is the power. While the 289 represents very well, its no match for the 465 hp 347 IR. Lastly, the 289 was a custom engine (one-off) and the 347 IR is a Roush Crate Engine meaning, comes with a proper product warranty. Oh my, how times have changed from then to now. Both are really cool... Enjoy!
