Then Paul,after dt d governor had beckoned unto him to speak,answered,Forasmuch as I know dt thou hast been of many year a judge unto this nation,I do d more cheerfully answer for myself:Because dt thou mayest understand,dt there are yet bt twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship. And they neither found me in d temple disputing with any man,neither raising up d people,neither in d synagogues,nor in d city: Neither can they prove d things whereof they now accuse me.Bt this I confess unto thee,dt after d way which they call heresy, so worship I d God of my fathers,believing all things which are written in d law n in d prophets:And have hope toward God,which they themselves also allow,dt there shall be a resurrection of d dead,both of d just n unjust.And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, n toward men.Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, n offerings.Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in d temple,neither with multitude,nor with tumult.Who ought to have been here before thee, n object, if they had aught against me.Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evildoing in me,while I stood before d council,Except it be for this one voice,dt I cried standing among dem,Touching d resurrection of d dead I am called in question by u this daythings,having more perfect knowledge of dt way,he deferred dem, n said,when Lysias d chief captain shall come down,I will know d uttermost of your matter.And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, n to let him have liberty, n dt he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.And after certain days,when Felix came with his wife Drusilla,which was a Jewess,he sent for Paul, n heard him concerning d faith in Christ.And as he reasoned of righteousness temperance, n judgment to come,Felix trembled, n answered,Go thy way for this time;when I have a convenient season,I will call for thee. He hoped also dt money should have been given him of Paul,dt he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him d oftener, n communed with him.Bt after two years Porcius Fest us came into Felix room: n Felix,willing to show d Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
