Then the Jews answered and said to Jesus, Do we not say rightly - TopicsExpress

Then the Jews answered and said to Jesus, Do we not say rightly that you are a Samaritan and have a demon.? Jesus answered, I do not have a demon but I honor My Father and you dishonor Me. And I do not seek My own glory, there is One who seeks and judges. MOST ASSUREDLY, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death. Then the Jews said to Him; Now we know that you have demon! Abraham is dead and the prophets and You say, If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death, Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Who do you make Yourself out to be.? Jesus answered; If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My father who honors Me of whom you say that He is your God. Yet you have not known Him but I know Him. And if I say, I do not know Him, I shall be a liar like you. But I do know Him and keep His word. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day and he saw it and was glad. Then the Jews said to Him; You are not yet 50 years old and have seen Abraham? Jesus said to them, MOST ASSUREDLY, I say to you, BEFORE ABRAHAM, I AM. Then they took up stones to throw at Him but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple going through the midst of them and so passed by. COMMENTARY: The Jews as referred to in scripture were a people who praised God with their lips but whose hearts were far from Him having no knowledge of Him for the spirit of God had not been given to them for they had done nothing to receive it preferring instead rich food and a land flowing with milk and honey rather than knowledge of the kingdom of heaven and the way to perceiving it. Nothing to this very day has changed regarding this. They obeyed laws designed not to make them righteous for the law made nothing perfect but did not know the law for what it was, a tutor to the mind of Christ, the Messiah for whom they still wait. The Messiah is not a celestial being who descends from heaven but a man who is High Priest in the order of Melchizedek the minister to Abraham and to whom Abraham gave a tithe. So when Jesus says, BEFORE ABRAHAM I AM, He is referring to a priesthood. Jesus was not there at the beginning of creation, it is the mind of Christ which has always lived for the mind of Christ is filled with the knowledge of the spirit and the way to it. And the Christ gives up the normal pursuits of life and pursues men that they may also be shown the way to having their senses exercised to discern good form evil in coming to the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven which is what it means to be reborn in the knowledge of the Holy Spirit through vision of it. The so called Christian of today is really a Jew for he prays to a God in the most convenient way whom he does not know His ways nor His precepts nor the purpose of them. As Jesus said of Himself that He was greater than Abraham in that God did many great things through Him. It is the message of Jesus, that YOU do even greater than things than Him. Now if a man says this to the leaders of the temple today, I promise you they would pick up the stones of words and condemn him and would not listen to him for the men of today measure themselves by themselves and think more of themselves than they should. To these men the Holy Spirit is some indescribable nothing which gives them thoughts and vision is about grand churches and large audiences and prosperity. They are no different than the Jews of old. Now if Jesus Himself walked into any church, He would go unnoticed and if he rose to speak, His testimony would not be believed. The same with His disciples who would be told to be quiet. The church of today requires things of a man that the scripture does not speak. Jesus was rejected because He was not a man of letters which is the equivalent of a seminary degree. They require of their leaders the appearance of godliness without discerning the signs and wonders of the man who has been given the mind of Christ today for His diligence in seeking it. Their work will come to nothing for they are proud and haughty and before the destruction of the mind of Christ forming in the mind of a man comes pride.
