Theology is to the Church as philosophy is to the world. Before you jump all over me, let me insist that mine is no Manichaean division — the world is not essentially evil, just as human nature is not essentially evil, but rather corrupted. Philosophy is good, too. It’s an expression of the Law, the permanent “Is” and the eternal “Ought”, and the Law is holy, righteous, and good.
