Theories of the Black Hole ..................................................................................................... There are many theories as to what black holes are, where they are and what role they play in the universe. Einstien quoted ‘Black holes are God divided by zero’. A well known theory is that black holes curve space time back on themselves so all the paths inside the black hole lead back to the same path in the centre of the black hole, no matter the direction of the path in the first place. This theory is demostrated in a lot of sci-fi centred movies. The most accepted theory is that a whole other universe is at the end of every black hole. According to Poplawski (the theorist behind this theory), the black hole is like a tunnel that leads you to the other side, which is in this case, another universe, like a type of wormhole. Another very interesting theory is that about Cygnus X1 (the first source of X-rays discovered in the constellation Cygnus). Discovered by the Uhuru X-ray satellite in the early 1970s, it was also one of the first suspected black holes.
