There are a great number of things in space that can destroy Earth if there is a direct impact or in this case even a near miss. We pretty much have to just accept on faith the odds favor our survival as a species at least until our sun begins the process of dying within about 1.75 billion years. Nevertheless, if you could observe a plant 8 times the size of Jupiter impact anything in our solar system that would be one mighty impressive display until the debris hit Earth.
